Instal the New Version for Mac Shotcut 23.09.29: A Collection of Fixes and Upgrades

Shotcut, a popular video editing software, has released its latest version, v23.09.29, specifically for Mac users. This update brings with it a slew of fixes, upgrades, and improvements that aim to enhance the overall user experience.

One of the key changes in this release is the upgraded rubberband audio pitch library, which now boasts version 3.3.0. Additionally, the AV1 decoder dav1d has been updated to version 1.4, while the AV1 encoder libaom-av1 has been bumped up to version 3.8.0.

Several issues have also been addressed in this release. For instance, the Properties > Measure Video Quality accuracy problem when Color range is set to Full has been fixed. Moreover, the Properties > View Bitrate > Save image issue with non-anti-aliased images and the Properties > View Bitrate open size on high DPI screens have both been resolved.

Furthermore, Shotcut v23.09.29 fixes several other bugs and issues, including those affecting the Timeline waveform, Slideshow Generator, Equalizer: Parametric > Preset, No Sync video filter, and numerous audio filters on macOS/Intel systems.

It's worth noting that users who are experiencing trouble with installing a Qt 6 Wayland package may need to resort to logging in using an X session instead or trying the Flatpak option. Unfortunately, the combination of Wayland and Qt 6 seems to be causing issues with the portable/AppImage/Snap binary bundle, which has resulted in support for Wayland being dropped on Ubuntu 23.04.

On a more positive note, Shotcut v23.09.29 also includes fixes for crashes on start on Wayland on Ubuntu 22.04 and 23.10, although these may require installing qt6-wayland.

Overall, this release is a small but welcome collection of fixes and upgrades that aim to improve the stability and performance of Shotcut on Mac systems. If you're currently using an earlier version of Shotcut, it's definitely worth upgrading to v23.09.29 for these improvements.
